Three Indians likely to break Mohammed Shami's record of fastest to 100 ODI wickets
After a brilliant spell of bowling against that accounted for the wickets of Colin Munro and Martin Guptill, Mohammed Shami created history during the 1st ODI of the New Zealand-India series. He has become the fastest Indian to reach the landmark of 100 wickets in ODI cricket.
Shami reached the milestone in his 55th innings and has seemingly booked his position in the World Cup 2019 squad. Although his feat is one to savour for a very long time, there a few individuals within the Indian team itself who could break his record.
With India's bowling looking better than ever, the country is blessed with a phenomenal arsenal of bowlers. Walking along the same lines, here are three bowlers who could break Shami's record of being the fastest Indian to take 100 wickets in ODI cricket.
#3 Yuzvendra Chahal
The leg-spinner recently picked by a six-wicket haul at the MCG against a formidable Australian side. Yuzvendra Chahal has been brilliant since his introduction to the shorter formats.
Chahal, along with Kuldeep Yadav, has wrecked opposition in the middle-orders and made a name in doing so. They are by far the most dreaded spin duo at the moment due to their ability to flight the ball and dare the batsmen to go after them.
Chahal has picked 64 wickets in 36 matches at an average of 23.69. With India slated to play a good chunk of matches at home, he has a chance to progress towards the milestone of 100 ODI wickets.
