Three leading wicket-getters for India in Tests in 2019
The Indian team has played all their eight Test matches of 2019, and Virat Kohli's side continued their domination by winning seven of those matches. And the pace battery has played a huge role in the success of the team. The fast bowlers took 81 wickets in 2019, and dominated the opposition batsmen.
India's pace battery is an amalgamation of sheer force and accuracy. The Indian fast bowlers have shown an upward spike in their career graph and they are getting better with every passing match. The pacers are bamboozling the batsmen with their accurate line and length. Furthermore, the express pace is giving no time to the opposition batters.
The Indian pace contingent is hunting like a pack and the pressure is maintained from both sides, which is key to success in any form of the game. They are always at the batsmen and they have been relentless in their approach. The Indian team has never got the recognition of a potent pace bowling line-up but this bowing unit is changing that perception.
Here are India's three leading Test wicket-getters in 2019.
#1. Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav is known to hit the nail on the head in the home conditions. Yadav has the pace in his arsenal to breathe down the neck of the opposition batsmen and he was right on the money in 2019.
The right-arm pacer from Vidarbha scalped 23 wickets in the four Test matches he played in the year. Yadav bowled at a staggering average of 13.65 and took a wicket every 23.1 balls.
The express fast bowler best came in against Bangladesh in the day-night Test when he returned with figures of 8-82 in the match. The gun paceman took a five-wicket haul (which was his sole fifer in the year) in the second dig of the same match. The strongly built pacer played all the four matches inIndian conditions. Umesh is not a regular part of the Test team but as Jasprit Bumrah was injured, Yadav was able to grab the opportunity with both hands.
