Thunderstorm denies Kolkata Knight Riders practice on Eden pitch
Kolkata, April 5 (IANS)
A thunderstorm that uprooted trees in the city, also put paid to the Kolkata Knight Riders' hopes to practice in the 22 yards of the Eden Gardens which turned soggy on Sunday.
The storm – locally called 'norwester' and common at this time of the year – started at around 4.15 p.m., 45 minutes before the Knights were to begin their net session on the hallowed ground.
The resultant heavy showers led to most part of the Eden Gardens going underwater.
The Knight Riders' cricketers waited for some time for the situation to improve, but then headed for the Pankaj Gupta indoor stadium located within the Eden Gardens premises for some tune up.
Meanwhile, Indian pacer Umesh Yadav joined the Knight Riders' pre-tournament camp during the day.
