Tim Southee fit for the first Test at Lords

New Zealand’s speed sensation Tim Southee has been declared fit for the first Test at Lords. Tim Southee, who picked up a foot injury during the warm-up match against the England Lions, had scans on his foot on Saturday. The results revealed that the injury was not serious and he needs rest for couple of days.

“Tim is fine. It was very much a precautionary response from us to send Tim down to London for further investigations. He had some treatment on his toe and he is very comfortable and will be all right for the first Test,” Mike Hesson, New Zealand’s coach, told the media at Lord’s on Monday. Neil Wagner is also fit to play the first test at Lords.

Southee has been Kiwi’s strike bowler. He has the ability to swing the ball both ways as well as reverse the ball. Therefore, he will play an important role in the first Test at Lords.

New Zealand’s Coach Mike Hesson said that he would probably go with four fast bowlers for the first Test. “Absolutely. It is an option,” Hesson said. “We are not closed in our views in terms of who we play. Whoever is left out is a tough decision but we have got to pick the best side for the conditions.”
