TNPL 2016: Fielding is an area which concerns us, says Warriors' skipper Indrajith
Ruby Kanchi Warriors’ skipper Baba Indrajith, who captained his side in his team’s seven-wicket win against Madurai Super Giants, at the NPR College Ground, Natham, addressed the media on Friday.
Here is an excerpt from the transcript.
The way forward for the team?
Indrajith: It was a very good win as we needed three in three. We have started well with this win and now need to keep the momentum going. When we can lose three in a row, we can also win three in a row. We need to take it one game at a time.
On Nilesh Subramanium’s form?
Indrajith: He is a really good player and he kept himself busy throughout the innings. He has been consistent for us throughout the tournament and is in good form. Bharath Shankar also got off to a very good start and that is the reason why Nilesh probably played second fiddle.
But then he played his role well as he stayed put at the crease and rotated the strike to allow Shankar to go for the big hits.
Areas for improvement?
Indrajith: We will work hard on all three departments, but we didn’t start well (in fielding) as we dropped a few catches. We need to improve on that. Also, it is about executing our plans at the right time.
Even in bowling, we didn’t bowl to the plan initially, but AC Pratibhan bowled very well. He was brave enough to toss and take the pace off the ball. Even J Kaushik was very good.
Any new strategies?
Indrajith: We just want to carry forward this momentum into the next game. We have a good win and the dressing room will be confident going into the next match. The next game is important at this point of the tournament.
When we prepare well and go in with a confident mindset, we have a good chance to win the next one as well. When we win the next game, the pressure will be on the other teams.
Do you keep an eye on the net run-rate?
Pratibhan: Only if we win then the run-rate will come into play. So we are just looking to win the next couple of matches.
Any plan against Albert Tuti Patriots?
Indrajith: We have plans for every team and it won’t be different (for Albert Tuti Patriots). There is no special plan as of such, but then it will remain the same.
