TNPL 2016: Lethargic fielding hampered our chances of a win says Supergiant's Mann K Bafna

Bafna impressed in his first game of the tournament

Madurai Super Giants’ Mann K Bafna, who made an impression in his debut T20 game, spoke exclusively to the India Cements TN Premier League website after his team’s 52-run loss to Karaikudi Kaalai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. He finished with figures of 2 for 14 and is also a first-year student of MBA from SRM University, Chennai

On his performance

Since it was my first game, I was a little nervous! After I bowled my first over, I just stuck to the basics and the game plan.

On the advice he received from senior players

They told me to play my natural game and forget that it was a live match.

On playing in front of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo

It was a good opportunity to play in front of such experienced players. It also was an advantage for us as they are promoting the tournament. But then it was unfortunate that we lost the game!

On the mood in the dressing room

We are positive and are aiming to win the last three games. If we win all three by a huge margin then we still are in with a chance. Though we lost some close ones, it is only a matter of one good win.

On his league team

I represent India Pistons Limited in TNCA’s first-division.

On the platform provided by India Cements TN Premier League

It’s a very good opportunity as one good season can catapult you to the IPL. It may be noted that the IPL’s team owners are closely watching this tournament. Even the live telecast is a huge learning curve for our youngsters.

On his idol

I was a fast bowler to begin with and switched to spin only last year. My batting idol is Suresh Raina whereas in bowling it is Ravindra Jadeja.

On how the team keeps the morale high

We gel well outside and have to do it on the field as well. Also, we are a bit lazy on the field as is evident by that dropped catch which cost us this match!
