TNPL 2016: Our bowlers were not intimidated by big names, says Dindigul Dragon's Sanjay Srinath
Sanjay Srinath, who picked up the crucial wickets of Arun Karthik and G Vignesh, played a key role in Dindigul Dragons’ 14-run win over Madurai Super Giants at the NPR Ground in Natham on Saturday. He spoke exclusively to the India Cements TN Premier League website.
What was your plan when Madurai threatened to take the game away after an aggressive start?
I simply stuck to the basics irrespective of the batsman on crease. We were not intimidated by the big names.
How was it playing in front of this huge crowd?
The crowd was fantastic and we were fortunate to play the first game at home. The best part was of them chanting my name every time I returned to my fielding position. It felt really good!
How did you feel when you got to know of your selection for today’s game?
I felt proud when I was told that I would be playing today’s game. Venkatramana (coach), Sanjay (assistant coach) and the physios were very professional. They supported me very well.
How did the wicket turn out to be?
It was a good batting track which had little in it for the bowlers. The only thing we had to do was to support our batsmen with a good display in the bowling and fielding departments.
How do you feel on winning the first game?
It is a good start and we hope to keep this momentum going for the rest of the tournament. A word of caution for our future opponents – just be a little careful!
