The race to the IPL playoffs was quite intense this year, but Gill’s fantastic form ensured that GT were sitting comfortably at the top of the table.

Shedding some more light on Shubman’s numbers in IPL 2023, the GT opener has maintained a brilliant average of 59.33. Many fans questioned his slow strike-rate during the initial phases of his career, but Gill has shown stark improvement this year, scoring runs at 157.80.

IPL 2023 will be remembered for many reasons, and one of them is Shubman Gill’s purple patch. In this article now, we will look at the top three most intense moments featuring the Gujarat Titans star.

#1 Shubman Gill’s 129 (60) against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2

Gujarat Titans topped the points table in the IPL 2023 league stage, but they could not win the Qualifier 1 against the Chennai Super Kings. GT were in a do-or-die situation in Qualifier 2. They faced five-time champions Mumbai Indians, who were coming on the back of an impressive win against the Lucknow Super Giants.

MI had a ton of momentum by their side, and GT needed an extraordinary performance from one of their players in the knockout game. Shubman Gill stepped up and delivered the goods for the Gujarat Titans that night at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He finished with 129 runs off just 60 balls.

Gill set a new record for the highest individual score in IPL playoffs matches. His century powered the Gujarat Titans to 233/3. In the end, they won the match against Mumbai Indians by 62 runs.

#2 Shubman Gill roars at Chinnaswamy Stadium with a century

Gujarat Titans faced the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their final league stage match of IPL 2023 on May 21. While GT had already secured a place in Qualifier 1, it was a do-or-die match for RCB.

An in-form Virat Kohli smacked a hundred for the home side in the first innings and helped them set a massive target of 198 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Many fans considered RCB as the favorites to win because they had match-winners like Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel and Wayne Parnell in their bowling lineup.

Although RCB’s pace attack featured some big names, none of them could silence Shubman Gill’s roar. The GT opener smacked an unbeaten 52-ball 104*, hitting five fours and eight sixes to help Gujarat win by six wickets. He reached his century and finished the match in style with a big six off Parnell’s bowling in the 20th over.

#3 Shubman Gill makes a special night even more memorable for GT fans in Ahmedabad

The GT players donned special lavender kits in their final home match in the league round against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. SRH captain Aiden Markram opted to field first after winning the toss, but the decision backfired as Shubman Gill registered his first IPL century.

Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls against a fiery bowling attack of Sunrisers Hyderabad. He hit 13 fours and a six and won the Man of the Match award as well. It is pertinent to note that all 11 players batted for Gujarat Titans in that match, and 9 of them failed to touch double digits. In such an intense game, Shubman Gill played an innings of 101 runs to delight the home fans.
