Top 5 biggest wins for India in T20Is by wickets ft. 2024 vs Zimbabwe

India scripted a record victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I of the five-match series in Harare on Saturday, July 13. Courtesy of this win, they also won the series 3-1 with one game yet to be played.

This was only the second instance where the Men in Blue registered a 10-wicket win in T20 Internationals.

Coincidentally, both these wins have come against Zimbabwe, also at the same venue. The Shubman Gill-led side will aim to end the series with another win and make it 4-1 to cap it off on a memorable note.

On that note, here are the five times India registered their biggest wins (in terms of wickets) in T20Is.

#5 ENG vs IND, 2018

During the third T20I at Bristol in 2018, England batted first and posted a competitive total of 198/9 on the back of Jason Roy's 67 at the top.

It was a stiff target for the visitors and they lost Shikhar Dhawan (5) and KL Rahul (19) within the powerplay.

However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then struck a magnificent partnership to steer the chase. Kohli smashed a quickfire 29-ball 43 while Rohit remained unbeaten on 100 off just 56 deliveries. Hardik Pandya chipped in a swashbuckling 14-ball unbeaten 33.

India chased the target down in 18.4 overs with seven wickets to spare eventually.

#4 AUS vs IND, 2016

India played Australia in a thrilling contest in 2016. It was the third T20I in Sydney where the hosts dominated the game batting first, giving the visitors a tough target of 198 after Shane Watson's terrific unbeaten century (124*).

In reply, the visitors got off to a fine start courtesy of Rohit Sharma (52) and Shikhar Dhawan (26). Keeping up the pace of the chase, Virat Kohli then struck a 36-ball 50.

However, the game went right down to the wire as MS Dhoni's men could seal a victory only off the final ball of the chase. Suresh Raina (49*) and Yuvraj Singh (15*) ensured they got past the line with seven wickets remaining.

#3 IND vs BAN, 2019

The second T20I in Rajkot against Bangladesh in 2019 saw India record an eight-wicket win.

Bangladesh could only manage to put up a modest total of 153/6 on the board batting first. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave the visitors no chance whatsoever.

They put up 118 runs for the opening stand, batting Bangladesh out of the game. Rohit scored a 43-ball 85. KL Rahul (8*) and Shreyas Iyer (24*) eventually got the hosts past the line comfortably in just 15.4 overs.

#2 ZIM vs IND, 2024

The recently concluded fourth T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare saw India achieve multiple milestones following their massive ten-wicket triumph.

They restricted Zimbabwe to just 152/7 from their 20 overs bowling first. After a fine job by the bowlers, skipper Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal took charge at the top to further impose the dominance.

Jaiswal struck a sensational unbeaten 53-ball 93 while Gill supported him with a 39-ball 58 at the other end. The duo stitched an unbeaten 156-run stand, making light work of the target and finishing the job in just 15.2 overs.

The chase was merely a formality to be completed. Chasing 100 runs for a win, KL Rahul (47*) and Mandeep Singh (52*) put up an unbeaten 103-run stand to take them home in just 13.1 overs, completing a thoroughly dominant victory from start to finish.
