Warner has a long list of controversies in his career

David Warner, the explosive Aussie opener, has been in the news for all wrong reasons recently. The left-handed batsman's career has been over-shadowed by multiple controversies. Not the one to back down, Warner's often gotten into trouble for being too expressive.

David Warner burst onto the international scene with some whirlwind innings in T20 cricket. His batting prowess showed that he was a special and needed proper nurturing. Eventually, he went on to represent Australia in all three formats.

The southpaw's ability and exploits on the cricket field are unquestionable. However, it's his off-field incidents that have often taken the front seat in his career.

#5 Punch at Joe Root

The incident occurred after the match between England and Australia in Champions Trophy, 2013. England got the better of Australia in the match. Apparently, when the players were hanging out in a pub after the match, a visibly angry Warner tried to punch Joe Root.

When the news came out, he was sacked from the team for Champions Trophy. Later on, he went on to publicly apologize to Root. He then made a comeback in the Ashes, 2013.

Warner threw light on this matter much later, explaining the reason he went on do that. As per his explanation, he felt that Root was making fun of Muslims by using a beard wig, which was a complete misunderstanding on his part.
