Top 5 most expensive Jasprit Bumrah overs in the IPL
Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the finest bowlers to come out of Indian Premier League (IPL).
Since his IPL debut in 2013 for Mumbai Indians (MI), Bumrah has been a consistent wicket-taker for the franchise. The right-arm pacer was the team's leading wicket-taker, when they lifted titles in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
On Saturday (April 26), Jake Fraser-McGurk smashed Bumrah for 18 runs off one over, comprising a six and two fours. However, he made a fine comeback by finishing with figures of 1/35. After dismissing Rishabh Pant, he is now the Purple Cap holder with 14 wickets in nine games.
On that note, let's check out the five instances of Bumrah conceding the most runs in an over.
#5 20 runs vs CSK, 2018
In the inaugural game of IPL 2018, Mumbai Indians posted 165 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Wankhede Stadium, with Suryakumar Yadav (43) as the top contributor.
In response, CSK needed 27 off 12 balls. Then, Dwayne Bravo smashed three sixes and took a double to make it 20 runs off the over. Although Bravo was dismissed for 68 off 30, he made sure CSK win the game in the last over.
#4 20 runs vs RPS, 2016
Mumbai Indians clashed against Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) in the first game of IPL 2016. Harbhajan Singh was impressive with a knock of 45* off 30, as MI could only manage to score 121.
Thereafter, in the final over of the powerplay, Bumrah delivered his third over, as he had conceded only 10 in his first two overs. However, Ajinkya Rahane hit him for a four in the second ball, while Faf du Plessis took him to the cleaners in the last two balls. He went to concede 20 off the over, as RPS sealed the chase under 15 overs.
#3 21 runs vs CSK, 2021

In the 17th over, Ravindra Jadeja hit Jasprit Bumrah for a four, while Ambati Rayudu creamed two sixes and a four to make it 21 runs off an over. Ultimately, Chennai posted 218 on the board.

#2 25 runs vs RCB, 2015
The 46th game of IPL 2015 witnessed Royal Challengers Bengaluru locking horns with Mumbai Indians. After Chris Gayle (13) was dismissed, Virat Kohli (82*) and AB de Villiers (133*) were phenomenal with their batting display to steer Bengaluru at an expensive rate.
In the 17th over, Virat Kohli hit a four and a six against Bumrah, while de Villiers slammed consecutive sixes to complete the over with 25 runs. In the end, they posted 235 and won the game by 35 runs.
