Top 5 Forgotten T20 Players
Let’s take a look through the top 5 T20 batsmen who started their career on high note but ended up nowhere:-
Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa is the first Indian batsmen to score a fifty in an international T20 match. He achieved this feat by scoring a brilliant 50 under pressure against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup in South Africa. Robin Uthappa is famous for hitting the ball outside the ground against any quality bowler. Uthappa has played 70 matches in IPL and has scored 1538 runs at an average of 26.98, which is fairly good for a T20 batsman. In a match against Kings XI Punjab, he scored a 21-ball 50, indicating his presence in World cricket. Being such a powerful hitter of the ball, he under-used the chances that came to him. If we look at his last 5 domestic matches, he has scored 346 runs at an average of 69.2, which is apparently not enough for the selectors to select him for the Indian squad.
Uthappa’s T20 stats:-

Manish Pandey was also part of India’s U-19 World Cup winning squad in 2008. If we look at his last five domestic matches, he has scored 209 runs at an average of 41.8. He has good batting technique, but he consistently under-performed in the IPL which kept him away from an Indian T20 cricket team appearance.

He was adjusted Man of the series in Karnataka Premier League in 2010. In 2012 IPL, Mayank Agarwal scored a 30-ball unbeaten 64 to give RCB a much needed win. With this knock he showed his presence in the T20 world. But he has failed to perform well in domestic cricket. Paul Valthaty
In 2011 IPL, Paul Valthaty scored a brilliant 120* in 63 balls against Chennai Super Kings. With this innings, he won many hearts and proved himself as one of the emerging T20 batsmen. Paul Valthaty was picked up by Kings XI Punjab as a backup for expensive international buys at the players auction in January and ut proved to be one of the best buys for them. Paul Valthaty has played 22 matches in IPL and has scored 499 runs at an average of 22.68. He was selected for the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2002 but because of an eye injury he was sent back. This was a major setback for his career. Since then, Valthaty has been trying hard to make it to the Mumbai Ranji side but he has failed to do so.
