5 biggest price hikes in IPL Auction 2025
#5 Jitesh Sharma - ₹20 lakh to ₹11 crore
Jitesh Sharma was an uncapped player when the Punjab Kings signed him at his base price of ₹20 lakh at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. PBKS retained him for the same price in 2023 and 2024. In those two years, Sharma played for India and even captained the Punjab Kings team.
Having grown so much as a player, Jitesh earned an enormous bid worth ₹11 crore from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the IPL Auction 2025. Thus, his salary increased by ₹10.8 crore.
#4 Rishabh Pant - ₹16 crore to ₹27 crore
Rishabh Pant was the number one retention of the Delhi Capitals team ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. DC retained him for ₹16 crore and he stayed with the team for the next two seasons at the same value.
Pant left DC before the IPL Auction 2025. While DC tried to use the RTM card for him, the Lucknow Super Giants outbid them by raising the price to ₹27 crore. Pant's salary has thus increased by ₹11 crore.
#3 Yuzvendra Chahal - ₹6.5 crore to ₹18 crore
India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is another player whose salary hike was more than ₹10 crore at the IPL Auction 2025. The leg-spinner will don the Punjab Kings jersey this year as they signed him for ₹18 crore.
The Rajasthan Royals paid ₹6.5 crore per season to Chahal from 2022 to 2024. Hence, Chahal's salary hike is ₹11.5 crore.
#2 Shreyas Iyer - ₹12.25 crore to ₹26.75 crore
The Kolkata Knight Riders wished to retain their IPL trophy-winning captain Shreyas Iyer ahead of the mega auction. However, Iyer decided to enter the auction. His decision proved to be a masterstroke as the IPL franchises bid big for him.
Punjab Kings eventually signed him for ₹26.75 crore, more than double of ₹12.25 crore, the amount KKR paid him from 2022 to 2024. Iyer's gain was ₹14.5 crore.
#1 Venkatesh Iyer - ₹8 crore to ₹23.75 crore
Venkatesh Iyer was the biggest gainer in the IPL Auction 2025. The Kolkata Knight Riders had retained him during the previous mega auction cycle from 2022 to 2024 for ₹8 crore per season.
This time, KKR let him go into the auction and chased him aggressively, eventually securing him for ₹23.75 crore. While Venkatesh will continue playing for the same team, his salary has gone up by an incredible ₹15.75 crore.
