Top 5 match aggregates in a women’s ODI ft. IND-W vs SA-W 2024 

India Women faced South Africa Women in the second game of a three-match series on Wednesday, June 19, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. SA-W won the toss and chose to bowl first; however, for the next three hours, it was all about Indian batters.

Smriti Mandhana continued her great form from the first game, and she was brilliantly supported by the Women in Blue’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur. Both the Indian veterans were on fire and went on to score centuries.

The Indian opener, Mandhana, scored her seventh ODI century; she struck 136 runs off 120 balls, hitting 18 fours and two sixes in her innings. Meanwhile, Kaur remained unbeaten on 103 off 88 balls; she hit nine fours and three sixes as India scored 325 runs in their 50 overs. This was India’s first 300+ total at home.

One would have thought that the match was going to be one-sided after IND-W put up a mammoth total but that wasn’t the case. SA-W captain Laura Wolvaardt led from the front and she was brilliantly supported by Marizanne Kapp.

South African all-rounder Kapp scored 114 runs in 94 balls; she struck eleven fours and three sixes and kept SA-W in the game by stitching a 174-run partnership with captain Laura. However, it came down to the last over, with SA-W needing 11 to win and six wickets remaining.

For India, it was Pooja Vastrakar who kept her nerve and won it for the Women in Blue by four runs. The SA-W captain, Laura, remained unbeaten on 135 off 135, but couldn't get her team over the line.

Overall, it was a fantastic game of cricket, as a total of 646 runs were scored. On that note, we look at the five highest match aggregates in women’s ODI.


#5 ENG-W vs SA-W (633 runs)

England Women faced South Africa Women in the last game of a three-match ODI series at Grace Road Stadium in 2022. After being asked to bat first, ENG-W was on fire, with Tamsin Beaumont leading the charge.

Emma Lamb (65) and Tamsin (119) stitched together a 149-run opening partnership. After that, Sophia Dunkley (51) and captain Heather Knight (63) scored brilliant fifties as ENG-W put up a mammoth total of 371 runs.

In response, Laura Wolvaardt (56) started well but didn’t get enough support as SA-W lost wickets at regular intervals. Marizanne Kapp (62) and Chloe Tryon (70) fought hard but it wasn’t well enough as SA-W were bowled out on 262 and lost the match by 109 runs.


#4 IRE-W vs NZ-W (635)

New Zealand Women won the toss and chose to bat in the first game of a three-match ODI series at the Claremont Road Cricket Ground in 2018. NZ-W captain Suzie Bates (151) and Jess Watkin (62) went berserk as they stitched together a 172-run opening partnership.

The momentum was carried by Maddy Green; she scored 121 runs off 77 balls. Green was well supported by Amelia Kerr, who remained unbeaten on 81 off 45 balls, as NZ-W recorded the highest score in women’s cricket (490).

In response, no IRE-W batter looked comfortable, with Laura Delany (37) scoring the most runs for the team. Leigh Kasperek led the charge for New Zealand; she picked up four wickets as the Kiwis easily won the match by 346 runs.


#3 AUS-W vs ENG-W (641 runs)

The 2022 Women’s World Cup final saw AUS-W take on ENG-W. Heather Knight won the toss and asked Australia to bat first.

Alyssa Healy was on fire for Australia; she scored 170 runs off 138 balls on the night of the final. Healy struck 26 fours in her inning. Meanwhile, Rachel Haynes (68) and Beth Mooney (62) scored half-centuries as Australia finished 356/5 in their 50 overs.

In response, Nat Sciver-Brunt played a brilliant innings; the England all-rounder remained unbeaten on 148 off 121 balls but she didn't receive any support from the other end. Alana King and Jess Jonassen took three wickets each as ENG-W fell short by 71 runs.


#2 IND-W vs SA-W (646 runs)

IND-W faced SA-W in the second match of a three-match series on June 19, 2024. Batting first, the Indian opener, Smriti Mandhana (136), was on fire as she scored her second consecutive century. She was well supported by Harmanpreet Kaur (103*), who scored her sixth ODI ton as IND-W scored 325 runs in their 50 overs.

In response, SA-W captain Laura Wolvaardt (135*) along with Marizanne Kapp, (114) fought brilliantly, However, Pooja Vastrakar was on target for India in the last over. Pooja defended 11 runs in the last over to help India win the second match of the series by four runs.


#1 ENG-W vs SA-W (678 runs)

ENG-W won the toss and chose to bat first in the 13th match of the 2017 Women’s World Cup. Tamsin Beaumont and Sarah Taylor were on fire for England as they stitched together a 275-run stand for the second wicket.

Beaumont scored 148 runs off 145 balls; she struck 22 fours and one six. Meanwhile, Taylore smashed 147 runs off just 104 balls as ENG-W scored 373 runs.

In response, Laura Wolvaardt, Lizelle Lee, and Chloe Tryon scored half-centuries, but none of them were able to convert these knocks into big scores as SA-W fell short by 68 runs. They scored 308 runs in their 50 overs, with Danielle Hazell picking up three wickets for England.
