Top 5 performers from the 4th round of Ranji Trophy 2017-18
Mumbai registered their maiden victory of the season, against Odisha while Saurashtra made it three wins out of three. While there were wins for Delhi, Karnataka and Punjab, there were also some stunning performances in the fourth round of Ranji Trophy 2017/18.
Despite a valiant 123 Bengal's Manoj Tiwary wasn't able to help his side win the match and five wickets in both innings for Akshay Wakhare for Vidarbha still wasn't enough to earn him a spot in the list of top 5 performers from this round.
Here are the top 5 performers from the 4th round of Ranji Trophy 2017-18:
Cheteshwar Pujara
Going into the game against Jharkhand, Cheteshwar Pujara didn't have a fifty in his last 10 first-class innings but the Indian batsman didn't let any of that matter. The Saurashtra No.3 brought up his 12th career first-class double century and in the process broke a 70-year-old record for most double hundreds by an Indian.
From a tricky spot, Pujara's double century helped his side put on a total in excess of 500 and eventually win the game by six wickets. The batsman's 204 was his 12th double ton that puts him second on the list of Asian batsmen with most first-class double centuries. Only Kumar Sangakkara (13) has more and no one has more for Saurashtra than Pujara (6), as he also went past his teammate Ravindra Jadeja's record of 5.
With the series against Sri Lanka around the corner, he is getting back to form at the perfect time.
