Top 5 records created by Goa's Kashyap Bakle & Snehal Kauthankar during their 606-run partnership in Ranji Trophy 2024

Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar have entered the record books, thanks to their incredible partnership of 606 runs. The two batters took Goa's total from 121/2 to 727/2 dec against Arunachal Pradesh at the Goa Cricket Association Academy in Porvorim today (November 14).

In one of the most lopsided matches in Ranji Trophy history, Arunachal Pradesh lost all their wickets for 84 in the first innings. In response, Goa scored 727/2 dec in their first innings, and then, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for just 92 in their second innings. Goa won the match by an innings and 551 runs.

Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar were the architects of Goa's win. The two batters smacked a triple hundred each in their 606-run stand. Here's a list of top five records created by the Goa duo today.

#1 Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar now have the highest partnership in Ranji Trophy history

Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar became the first pair of batters to add 600 runs for any wicket in a Ranji Trophy match. They stitched up an unbeaten 606-run partnership for the third wicket, setting a new record for the highest partnership in Ranji Trophy.

Before this match, the record belonged to Ankit Bawne and Swapnil Gugale, who had an unbeaten 594-run partnership for Maharashtra against Delhi in 2016.

#2 Highest partnership in a first-class match on Indian soil

The 606-run stand between Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar is also the highest partnership in any first-class game played on Indian soil. Overall, it stands second on the list of highest partnerships in first-class matches across the globe.

Sri Lankan batters Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene own the world record for their 624-run partnership in a Test match against South Africa back in 2006.

#3 Highest team total by Goa in Ranji Trophy history

This 606-run partnership between Kauthankar and Bakle helped Goa set their highest total in Ranji Trophy history. Goa posted 727/2 dec against Arunachal Pradesh in today's match.

Prior to this, Goa had never touched the 700-run mark in a Ranji Trophy match. Goa's highest total was 618/7 dec, recorded in a match against Chandigarh in January 2024.

#4 Highest run rate for a 700+ total in first-class cricket

It is rare to see teams scoring 700 or more runs in a first-class match, but Goa managed to do it in less than 100 overs. Goa took only 92 overs to reach 727/2, courtesy of the triple tons from Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar.

The overall run rate for the innings was 7.9 runs per over. Hence, Goa set a new record for the highest run rate for a 700+ score.

#5 Individual milestones for Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar

The 606-run partnership saw both Bakle and Kauthankar complete their triple centuries. While Bakle was unbeaten on 300 runs off 269 balls, Kauthankar was not out for 314 off 215, having completed his triple ton in 205 balls.

Kauthankar and Bakle now hold the second and third positions on the list of players with the quickest triple centuries in Ranji Trophy history. The first spot still belongs to Tanmay Agarwal, who scored 300 off 147 balls for Hyderabad last season.
