Nothing unites India like Cricket does. The 11th season of the Indian Premier League is going to begin in a couple weeks and the teams have already begun with their practice camps. Every cricket lover is ready for the summer carnival to commence.

Each season has been a captivating one and we have witnessed several unbelievable performances by almost every team. It is interesting to note that throughout the history of IPL, teams that have managed to score quickly in the first six overs of their innings have gone on to perform well in the match.

In the T20 format, the power play signifies the first six overs of the batting teams’ innings. It tends to set the tone of the match. There's always a risk of losing wickets in the first six overs if the batsmen try to take the advantage of powerplay. But if they go on to score big in these overs, it proves to be decisive first six overs.

IPL has seen some outstanding batting display by the openers. The teams have managed to score at a run rate more than 16 on many occasions.

#5 86/1, Kings XI Punjab vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 2014

The 39th match of 2014 IPL season was a run-feast. Sunrisers Hyderabad had put on a mighty score of 205 runs in their first innings. Punjab batsmen had a daunting task at their disposal.

But the chase began in a disastrous way as former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag could not score big and fell at the score of four in the very first over.

But what followed next was an outstanding batting display by wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, and Manan Vohra. Both these players playing glorious strokes and scored at a furious rate.

At the end of first six overs, KXIP managed to score 86 runs at a run rate of 17.20. Punjab went on to win the game quite comprehensively as they chased down the target with eight balls to spare.
