Punjab Kings (PBKS) stunned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets in Match 42 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, April 26, in a mini six-hitting contest.
Sent into bat after losing the toss, KKR put up a massive 261-6. In their chase, PBKS romped home in 18.4 overs, pulling off the highest successful chase in T20 cricket history.
The win was a much-needed one for Punjab Kings, who had only four points from eight matches heading into the clash. Even after the thumping triumph against KKR, PBKS are eighth, with six points from nine matches.

St Kitts And Nevis Patriots responded with 242-6 in 18.5 overs. Devon Thomas hammered 71 off 40, Evin Lewis 53 off 18 and Laurie Evans 41 off 20. Sixteen sixes were hit in St Kitts And Nevis Patriots' innings as they won by four wickets.
#4 Balkh Legends vs Kabul Zwanan - APL 2018, Sharjah (37 sixes)
Thirty-seven sixes were also hit in the 2018 Afghanistan Premier League match between Balkh Legends and Kabul Zwanan in Sharjah.
Balkh Legends won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up 244-6 as Gayle hammered 80 off 40, Darwish Rasooli 50 off 27 and Dilshan Munaweera 46 off 25. A total of 23 sixes were hit in Balkh's innings.
Kabul Zwanan responded with 223-7, going down fighting. Hazratullah Zazai clubbed 62 off 27 and Shahidullah 40 off 20. Fourteen sixes were struck in Kabul's innings.
#3 SRH vs RCB - IPL 2024, Bengaluru (38 sixes)
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) combined to hit a whopping 38 sixes in match 30 of IPL 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
RCB won the toss and elected to field first. The move backfired, as SRH posted a record IPL total of 287-3. Travis Head struck 102 off 41, while Heinrich Klaasen hammered 67 off 31. A total of 22 sixes were hit in the Sunrisers' innings.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru responded with 262-7, going down fighting. Veteran keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik top-scored with 83 off 35, while skipper Faf du Plessis contributed 62 off 28. RCB hit 16 sixes, seven of them coming from Karthik's bat.
#2 SRH vs MI - IPL 2024, Hyderabad (38 sixes)
Before the SRH vs RCB clash, 38 sixes were also struck in match number eight of IPL 2024 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Mumbai Indians elected to field first and had to regret the decision, as SRH put up 277-3, then a record for the highest IPL total. Head hammered 62 off 24, Abhishek Sharma 63 off 23 and Klaasen 80* off only 34. SRH struck 18 sixes in their innings.
In their chase, Mumbai Indians finished on 246-5, going down by 31 runs. Tilak Varma top-scored with 64 off 34, while Tim David returned unbeaten with 42 off 22. MI hit 20 maximums.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings combined to shatter the world record for most sixes in any T20 match, as 42 maximums were hit in the game - match number 42 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to field first. They put up 261-6 as Phil Salt clobbered 75 off 37 and Sunil Narine 71 off 32. Venkatesh Iyer also chipped in with 39 off 23, while there were a couple of other cameos as well. KKR smashed 18 sixes.
Punjab Kings, though, were exceptional in the chase. Jonny Bairstow returned unbeaten on 108 off 48, slamming eight fours and nine sixes. Prabhsimran Singh contributed a blazing 54 off 20 and Shashank Singh 68* off 28. PBKS chased down the target with eight balls to spare, slamming 24 sixes.
