Cricket is a team sport, requiring all 11 players to contribute for a side to be successful. However, the captain is the most important person in the dressing room, with every team's playing style often imitating their captain's nature.

The captain motivates the players and makes important decisions on the field that can turn 50-50 situations in his team's favour.

Test cricket is generally considered the hardest format of the Gentleman's Game. It tests a player's character and grit as well as his ability.

In this list, we list the 5 players who have won the most Test matches as captain of their respective sides. As expected, some of the best players of all time grace this list.

#5 Allan Border, Australia 1984-1994

Allan Border was responsible for transforming a struggling Australian side into future world champions. The outstanding batsman led his country in a total of 93 Tests out of which he won 32. He remains the only batsman to have scored two 150s in the same Test, a feat he achieved in a match against Pakistan in 1979-80.

However, he was no mug with the ball. He still remains the only Australian captain to have taken a 10-wicket haul in a Test match, a feat he achieved against the fearsome West Indies team of 1988-89, finishing the match with figures of 11 for 96.
