We will try our best to carry on winning momentum: Soumya Sarkar
Bangladesh batsman Soumya Sarkar expressed his excitement about the historic series win over India earlier this week and said that his team will try their best to carry on the momentum.
The 22-year-old top order batsman was the top scorer for his team in the bilateral series against India. With the help of 1 fifty he scored 128 runs in 3 games against the touring side.
Sarkar said, “Primarily, I didn’t think to win the series against India. Later, we could do it. I am really excited for this historic victory in the ODI series. After this emphatic win, we will try our best to carry on this momentum. We will go out to play against South Africa in the next home series to win the match from the onset of the series.
“I batted well but failing to translate those starts always hurts. It was my mistake that needed to be sorted out. A big score would have helped me to earn more.confidence as well as ease the pressure and put them back to the opposition.”
Proud of Mustafizur’s dazzling performance: Sarkar
Talking about the top wicket taker and Man of the Series Mustafizur Rahman, Sarkar said, “Mustafiz and me are the sons of Satkhira. I feel proud of his heroic display.”
He also credited Bangladesh limited overs skipper Mashrafe Mortaza: “All of us enjoy his captaincy. He really did captaincy well. He injected persistence inside us to do well in the games.”
Bangladesh will play their next series against South Africa from July 5 to July 30.
