T20I tri-series: England vs Australia, Player ratingsĀ
Australia was looking to continue their dominance in the second match of the tri-series. The England cricket team looked threatening at the beginning however, good bowling displays by Glenn Maxwell and Ashton Agar led to their crumble in the middle overs.
Australia was absolutely dominating with the bat, as Maxwell and D' Arcy Short gave an amazing start to the innings, despite the fall of two early wickets. Maxwell continued his brilliant hitting, and scored a magnificent century to take Australia to victory.
Let us take a look at the player ratings.
England:
Jason Roy: 4/10
The England opener looked dangerous at the beginning. However, he soon lost his wicket to Kane Richardson. He scored 9 runs off 7 balls and would've hoped to stay for the rest of the innings.
Alex Hales: 6/10
Hales looked like a real threat to Australia, smashing four glamorous boundaries. He scored 22 runs off just 15 deliveries and was building a partnership with Dawid Malan. However, he lost his wicket to Agar's smart low catch.
Dawid Malan: 8/10
Malan was undoubtedly the best batsmen in the England camp. He scored a blistering half-century in just 36 balls, and was looking extremely focused. However, soon after touching 50, he tried hitting the ball to the boundary and picked up Andrew Tye at the deep square leg.
Eoin Morgan: 6/10
The English captain had a tremendous start to the innings. However, the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were able to manage a decent score of 155. With the bat, he scored a quick 22 off just 14 deliveries. He gave his wicket to Maxwell's clever bowling as it hit the top edge and went straight up to David Warner.
Jos Buttler: 3/10
England wicketkeeper didn't have the innings he would've hoped for and didn't look comfortable at the crease and lost his wicket to Marcus Stoinis.
Sam Billings: 3.5/10
Billings scored 10 runs off 9 balls. He didn't seem to accelerate his innings and was hesitant with the bat the entire time. He lost his wicket to Agar, getting a leading edge straight back to the bowler.
David Wiley: 7/10
The opening bowler took two the crucial wickets of Warner and Lynn. He was exceptional with the new ball and deserved the two wickets. However, he went for plenty in the succeeding overs, conceding a total of 28 in his three overs, picking up 3 wickets.
Chris Jordan: 5/10
Jordan didn't have the best day on the pitch with the ball, as he was wicketless and conceded 34 runs in his four overs. However, he played well with the bat and scored 16 runs off 11 balls towards the end of the England innings.
Adil Rashid: 6/10
He took a good wicket of the dangerous D'Arcy Short with a brilliant catch. However, despite bowling a good line, Rashid was hammered by Maxwell and conceded 30 runs in his four overs.
Tom Curran: 3.5/10
He was the most expensive bowler from the England dugout. Curran was hammered for 39 runs in the four overs he bowled. His bowling was erratic and the Australian batters could easily pick the line bowled by him.
Mark Wood: 6/10
In a match where most of the English bowlers struggled, Wood bowled well by conceding 26 runs in 3.3 overs. He also took the wicket of the powerful Stoinis.
