Boxing Day Tests are always special and it became even more special for Dale Steyn when he became the highest wicket-taker for South Africa, going past Shaun Pollock when he sent back Pakistan's Opener Fakhar Zaman to claim his 422nd Test wicket in the seventh over of the first day of the 1st Test being played in Centurion, South Africa.

The 35-year old Steyn is breathing down Richard Hadlee's (431 wickets) neck to be in the top 10 wicket-takers list. Steyn overtook Pollock in just his 89th match which is much quicker than his country-man who played 108 matches to finish his career with 422 wickets.

However, the Steyn Gun as he is fondly called isn't resting on this milestone as it can be observed from his words before the start of the play:

"I haven’t saved myself just to take one more wicket than Polly (Pollock). There is a bigger goal at the end of the day. I will be highly honoured, but I will get back to my mark and try to take the next one".

Here are some of the tweets congratulating the man of the moment:

Morne Morkel, Steyn's partner in crime for long and a close friend was ready for the party before the play started and it didn't take long for Steyn to give him the chance to celebrate.

Shaun Pollock, the man he overtook posted a heartfelt congratulatory note, wishing Steyn to take many more wickets.

One South African Legend to another.

Aakash Chopra, termed Steyn as the BEST IN HIS GENERATION.

Rashid Khan, the Afghan star also showed his respect for the man of the moment.

Steyn's class can be seen from his strike rate as well which is the best ever among the bowlers picking up 200 wickets or more

Allan Donald, the white lightning as he is remembered feels Steyn can even reach that 500 mark with the way he has been bowling since his return
