Twitter-world reacts to Australia axing its players!
Four members of the Australian cricket team: Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson, James Pattinson and Usman Khawaja – were snubbed for the third Test for not presenting three points on how to improve their own performances and those of the team as a whole as asked by Coach Mickey Arthur.
Twitter reacted to the players’ axing from the Mohali Test. Here’s a collection of the best tweets!
To start with, Brydon Coverdale, the highly respected Aussie Journalist defends the decision:
To clarify, they weren’t asked for anything too complex. An SMS to the coach was enough. To not manage that in 6 days pretty slack #indvaus

Even then the intensity of the punishments was too severe according to Harsha Bhogle:
staggered by intensity of decision to leave out 4 players for not submitting feedback forms. were they aware of possible punishment?

Former England captain, Micheal Vaughn took a sly dig at this decision:
What is going on with Aussie Cricket??Didn’t realise you had to do a Essay to get a selection these days..!!!!!

Principled stance for some, while others said punishments equate to the one you get in school.
School teachers nationwide are jumping for joy. “You only get detention, they lost a baggy green.” #homeworkgate #cricketaustralia

Some apparently took a dig at Australian Coach Mickey Arthur:
That moment when Mickey Arthur logs into Slideshare and sees 4 new messages from last night.
— Nitin Sundar (@knittins) March 11, 2013
To be fair, its hard to respect a captain that goes by the name Pup and a coach that’s called Mickey

I feel really sorry for the 4 banned players that one of Arthur’s key recommendations was for him to act like a complete clown.
— Richie Benaud (@Richiebenaud1) March 11, 2013
While some blamed Clarke for it
Would Michael Clarke, Aus’s one class act, have been dropped if he didn’t do his homework? I suspect not.

Former Australian Cricketer Damien Flaming couldn’t resist:
On a positive note Ed Cowans presentation has just been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize#CanWrite#GoEd#MohaliGateHomework#AUSvIND

Finally Tom Moody’s blunt reaction:
From my experience report writing is not a player’s strength, no surprise to hear some failing, need to focus more on field short comings?
