Umar Akmal trolls himself with major blooper, Twitter goes rogue

Umar Akmal strikes a pose, and how

Pakistani cricketer Umar Akmal is one who has a tendency to shoot himself in the foot, be it on the cricket field, where he has invented new ways to throw his wicket away, or off it, on social media, where, how do I put this nicely? Well, he hasn’t endeared himself to the intellectuals over the years.

In the latest in a series of bloopers, Umar Akmal potentially lost a friend in his former coach Dav Whatmore. Dav Whatmore is a former Australian cricketer who has coached a number of international cricket teams, including Pakistan. At first sight, he doesn’t look like a guy you want to mess with.

The incident took place when Dav took to Twitter to express his sorrow over the loss of his good friend and former Australian cricketer Max Walker. Max Walker was a very gifted sportsman, who apart from representing Australia in over 30 Tests and 15 ODIs, also played Australian rules football at a high level.

Umar might have heard stories from his former coach about Max, and responded to Dav Whatmore’s Tweet:

Umar Akmal's tweet

Let’s rule out the obvious. Umar Akmal is not a cruel human being and it was just a well-intended message that went wrong. While he probably wanted to share the sentiment with Dav Whatmore, his words, along with the emoji backfired against him as it appeared he was happy at the passing of Max Walker.

Twitter, obviously, had a field day -

We have all been there before -

Satyavachan (the ultimate truth) –

 Drastic measures were suggested -

Most importantly, fan boys are bae –

Of course, these things can be forgiven when they are one time things, but, unfortunately for Umar, he’s gone down this road in the past.

When you want to congratulate David Warner and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, but the country comes first -

Virender Sehwag does what he does –

Umar Akmal had his good friend Ahmad Shahzad to thank for, as the Pakistani cricketer had pointed out the error and Umar was quick to take down the tweet and issue another, in apology –

Oh well, this was fun. Back to Trump jokes. Hurray!
