Unadkat claims last-over hat-trick as Supergiant beat Sunrisers

Jaydev Unadkat of Rising Pune Supergiant

Jaydev Unadkat produced a hat-trick in the last over as his five-for sent Rising Pune Supergiant level on points at the top of the Indian Premier League with victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Pune were put into bat by Sunrisers and, despite a 60-run partnership between Ben Stokes and Steve Smith, were kept in check and held to 148-8.

A 34-ball 40 from David Warner and Yuvraj Singh's 47 seemingly had Sunrisers in position to chase that down, needing just 13 off the last over.

But Unadkat delivered in stunning fashion in a maiden final over, dismissing Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in succession to ensure a 12-run triumph.

Stokes blasted three sixes in a 25-ball 39 to help Pune recover from 39-2 and MS Dhoni also contributed by hitting 31 in 21 deliveries.

Those efforts made sure Supergiant at least posted a defendable total, but Siddarth Kaul's 4-29 made sure it was target Sunrisers could be confident in chasing.

England all-rounder Stokes claimed the key early wickets of Shikhar Dhawan (19) and Kane Williamson (4) early in Hyderabad's reply.

Though Warner was not quite able to find his destructive best, the Australia batsman steadied the ship until he became Stokes' third victim when he skied a short delivery outside off.

Yuvraj was more patient for his 43-ball 47, but his departure at the hands of Unadkat marked the start of a rapid five-for.

He and Naman Ojha each fell to slower balls, although victory still seemed well within in Sunrisers' reach going into the final six balls.

But Bipul skewed to Stokes at deep midwicket, Rashid toe-ended back to Unadkat and the hat-trick was completed when Bhuvneshwar's pull ended up in the hands of Manoj Tiwary just to the right of cover, bringing up Unadkat's 100th IPL wicket in memorable fashion.
