Unmukt Chand misses Vijay Hazare Trophy match to attend hindi exam

Young Delhi opener Unmukt Chand missed his team's opening game of the Vijay Hazare domestic one-day tournament against Baroda on Thrusday to attend an University exam. Chand had to clear a paper of his graduation course in order to get his final degree. 

He missed his Hindi exam during the first semester and hasn’t attempted it ever since. This was his last chance to answer the paper. As per Delhi University (DU) rules, he would not be able to pass his graduation if he fails on Thrusday. 

In an recent interview Chand said “The date-sheet was released a month ago and I knew the exam clashed with the Baroda game. I informed the team, coach and captain well in advance that I will have to take the exam as it was my last attempt. I had missed my Hindi exam due to a packed cricket schedule but this time I had to sacrifice a day of cricket to complete my graduation”. 

Delhi played the match on Thrusday without the right-hander and won the match against Baroda. Batting first Delhi made 208 for 7, Nitish Rana played a good knock of 62 and later Pawan Negi also contributed to the tem total with a fighting 47 of 57 balls.

In reply Baroda were all out for 177 in 46.5 Overs. The pick of the bowler for Delhi was Subodh Bhati who picked up 4 for 17.
