Unveiling of the Karbonn Smart KPL 2015 Trophy

The trophy for the 4th edition has been unveiled

Bangalore, August 19, 2015: With just two weeks left for the Karbonn Smart Karnataka Premier League IV to commence, the Karnataka State Cricket Association, along with title sponsor Karbonn Mobiles unveiled the 2015 Trophy in a splendid ceremony at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore today. 

This league, a tribute to the Scion of The Mysore Royal Family and former President of KSCA, the Late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, will witness eight teams battle it out for the coveted title and one-of-its-kind Trophy.

The impressive Karbonn Smart KPL 2015 Trophy was unveiled by Mr. PR Ashok Anand, Hon. President, KSCA, Mr. Sudhir Hasija, Chairman, Karbonn Mobiles and Grammy® Award Winner Ricky Kej in the presence of the eight Franchisees, KSCA Officials and cricketers of the League.

Conceptualized and designed by brothers - Dinesh Kumar & Satish Kumar of Idesign, the Trophy has been created to honour the Late Srikantadatta Narashimharaja Wadiyar. It features two striking pillars reflecting the beauty and magnificence of the Royal City. Between these pillars is the presence of cricket stumps that fly into thin air in an artistic flow.

These visual features, along with a cricket ball placed on top of the Trophy, suggest the true ‘Spirit of the Game’. The motifs along with the title sponsor’s logo at the pedestal of the Trophy are inspired by the Royalty and add to its majesty. This majestic Trophy weighs 3.5 kgs and is 18" in height. 

Speaking at the unveiling, Mr. P R Ashok Anand, Hon. President, KSCA, said, “We are really looking forward to the Karbonn Smart  KPL IV matches due to begin in just over two weeks.  As we are unveiling the Trophy, there are eight teams who are training really hard to take the prestigious Trophy  home. This year, the matches to be held in Hubli and Mysore. We look forward to and urge the people of Karnataka to throng the venues and support the tournament wholeheartedly.”

Mr. Brijesh Patel, Hon. Secretary of KSCA, said, “This year, the League has elevated itself to the next level and we expect the contest to be even more exciting and competitive as compared to the previous editions considering that the teams are all so well matched with the talent in Karnataka being evenly spread across the teams. There are several top stars from Karnataka participating and the youngsters can learn a lot from them. Last year, players like Shishir Bhavane, Nidhish M and KC Cariappa benefitted greatly from the KPL and this year we look forward to discovering a new crop of stars. All the IPL franchisees are also very keen to scout for talent in the tournament. We have also introduced online scoring for the tournament this year. We thank all our sponsors, franchisees, players, the media and supporters of Karnataka cricket for their unwavering and consistent support in making KPL a success.” 

“As per the BCCI guidelines the Anti-Corruption Unit will be monitoring the tournament closely like in the IPL,” he added. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sudhir Hasija, Chairman, Karbonn Mobiles, said, “We are extremely proud to be associated with the Karnataka Premier League as Title Sponsor for the second consecutive year. Over the years,  KPL has nurtured young cricketers from Karnataka and provided a platform for players to perform at the State and National level. Ricky Kej, who has been associated with KPL since its inception and has scored the music for the KPL anthem in its inaugural edition in 2009, said, “KPL is a fantastic endeavor that encourages new talent and sportsmanship at the grass root level. It has been fantastic to follow the KPL journey so far and see it going strong in its fourth season. Moving forward, I am sure to see numerous cricket superstars of tomorrow making their debut and honing their skills through the KPL!!! I am very proud to be associated with the KSCA’s premier tournament.”

The Karbonn Smart Karnataka Premier League 2015 Trophy will travel across the two host cities – Mysore and Hubli with the final scheduled to take place in Mysore on September 19, 2015 at 5 pm.

Karbonn Smart KPL 2015 matches will be telecast live on Sony Six.
