Video: When one decision from Sourav Ganguly turned the fate of an epic Test match
In the epic Test in 2001 at Eden Gardens, which India won after following on, the pitch was taking a lot of turn on the 5th day. Skipper Sourav Ganguly asked Sachin Tendulkar to bowl and told him that he will get only one over to bowl. The reason was obivous since Harbhajan Singh and Venkatapathy Raju (the two main spinners) were troubling the batsmen.
The Australian had a good chance of drawing the Test, but Sachin dismissed Adam Gilchrist on the first ball of that over and went on to dismiss Matthew Hayden and Shane Warne in his 11-over spell. Ganguly’s decision to bowl Sachin turned out to be one of the turning point of that epic Test.
