Is there anything ABD can't do? Picks his maiden ODI wicket as South Africa seal series
He can bat, he can field, he can keep wickets, he can lead a team, he can save Tests, he can destroy world’s best bowler in T20s, and he can even take wickets.
Abraham Benjamin de Villiers keeps surprising everyone with what he’s capable of on the cricket field. In the 2nd ODI between New Zealand and South Africa at Mount Maunganui, Proteas skipper ABD picked his maiden ODI wicket in his 170th match.
He bowled 6 overs of his slow medium pace, and claimed two wickets, albeit with some poor shots by the batsmen. A long hop to Tom Latham was pulled straight to the fielder while a slower one to Trent Boult ricocheted onto the stumps after the batsman missed the attempted shot.
South Africa, riding on Hashim Amla’s ton, posted 282 on board in the first innings. New Zealand were eventually all out for 210 as the Proteas won the 2nd match of the series, taking an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.
