Video: Bhuvneshwar Kumar's brilliant Lord's debut
Every cricketer, irrespective of his nationality, dreams of getting his name onto the prestigious honours board at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in England. So when India played England at Lord’s in the second of a five-match Test series, Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have also been eager to impress everyone watching and etch his name onto the honours board.
Bhuvneshwar duly did so as he took an impressive 6/82 from his 31 overs including 10 maidens in the firs innings. The fact that India went on to complete a famous 95-run victory over the hosts would’ve only made the spell taste sweeter for the 24-year-old.
The swing bowler broke the back of the England top-order with the wickets of Alastair Cook, Sam Robson and Ian Bell in his initial spell. At 3/70, England were in desperate need of a recovery. Gary Ballance stepped up to the plate with a patient innings of 110 from 203 deliveries to enable a strong comeback from England.
Bhuvneshwar, however, ensured that the game didn’t get away from the Indians by claiming centurion Ballance as well as Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad late on in the innings.
