Brendon McCullum's incredible run-out effort against Sri Lanka
Brendon McCullum isn’t a stranger to superhuman efforts, be it with the bat or in the field. In the 4th match of the ongoing 7-match bilateral series against Sri Lanka in New Zealand, the Kiwi captain McCullum, positioned at mid-off, pulled off a stunning run out to dismiss Nuwan Kulasekara in the last over of the Lankan innings (watch the video below).
Batting first in the fixture at Nelson, Sri Lanka, powered by fifties from Kumar Sangakkara (76) and Mahela Jayawardene (94), scored 276 runs in their 50 overs. Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers accounting for 3 wickets, while Adam Milne and Mitchell McClenaghan took 2 wickets each.
The home team, in reply, were jolted in their chase by three quick blows that reduced them to 63-3 in 15.1 overs. However, a century from Kane Williamson (103 off 107 balls) and a late cameo from Luke Ronchi (15-ball 32) helped New Zealand go past the finishing line in 48.1 overs.
All-rounders Grant Elliott and Corey Anderson chipped in with scores of 44 and 47 respectively. 5 matches into the series, New Zealand lead Sri Lanka 3-1.
