Video: Chris Gayle keeps on sledging Brad Haddin and eventually gets him out

Gayle-Haddin sledging contest added spice to an already fiery derby match

For all of Australia’s incredible success on the cricket field, the team have developed an infamous reputation for the sledging tactics they employ to get under the skin of their opponents. They have benefitted from it on a number of occasions but when Chris Gayle decided to turn the tables on an Australian cricketer, the end result wouldn’t have pleased them one bit.

The incident occurred during the fiery derby clash between Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. The West Indian was representing the former took the Aussie way out to unsettle Sixers skipper Brad Haddin who was batting at the non-striker’s end.

Gayle is generally known to be all smiles on the field, but on this particular night, he was not in the mood for any joking around. After collecting the ball from his position at covers, Gayle came up to Haddin to a do a bit of ‘talking’. Not once, but twice!

He followed it up in the over after that as well with the bowl in his hand. Haddin was infuriated at the time he was taking between deliveries and Gayle’s attempt at distracting the wicket keeper batsman was successful as Haddin holed out in the deep.

If Haddin was not furious earlier, he certainly became so after Gayle celebrated the wicket by thumping his chest and starting an impromptu Gangnam-style dance. Haddin made his frustration known in the sideline interview after heading to the dugout.

"He's been all talk so far this tournament and they haven't won a game. At least the Thunder fans have seen Chris Gayle do something for his money."
