Video: Clarke searching for improvement

Australia captain Michael Clarke confirms more changes to their line up on Tuesday (August 20th) with the debut of all-rounder James Faulkner ahead of the fifth Ashes Test at the Oval in London, England.

“I am certainly not planning on losing this Test match. I have thought long and hard about what’s occurred so far in this series as you do when you are not performing as well as you would like personally and the team is not performing. I did the same after the India tour and it’s another reason to get out of bed and go and train and try and become better. I feel my game personally has a lot of improvement left in it. I feel like I can have the team have success. I see that as a big part of my role as a senior player in the team whether I am captain or not. But it is a tough challenge as a captain when you don’t get the results you want. This probably just inspires you to become better as a player, try and become better as a leader and try and help your team have more success.”

“I think by simply understanding where we are in this series. We may have lost the series but we still have a lot to gain. I think that we have a lot of cricket to play against England in the next 12 months is extra motivation but, like I say, I don’t think we need extra motivation. We need to go out and perform like we did in Manchester. We need to show a lot of people, but ourselves as well, if we continue to play that style and brand of cricket we can beat any team in the world in any condition.”
