Video: Great teamwork from Kaushal Silva and Niroshan Dickwella to pull off catch
In the 2nd Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the SSC in Colombo, some innovative thinking from Kaushal Silva resulted in the dismissal of Pakistan batsman Younis Khan.
Younis played a forward defence to a Rangana Herath delivery, which saw the ball hit his boot and pop up to Silva who was standing at silly point. The 28-year-old Sri Lankan was unaware that the ball had hit the boot and in an attempt to run the batsman out, who was outside his crease, threw the ball to wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella who held on to the catch without any fuss.
Replays showed that the ball had made no contact with the ground and Younis, who had scored a century in the first Test was on his way back to the pavilion.
This is not the first time this year that we have seen two players combining to take a catch, as Aaron Finch and Adam Lyth produced similar efforts twice, albeit on a different part of the ground, in county cricket for Yorkshire.
