Video: How Virat Kohli responded when Shoaib Akhtar asked him to help out Pakistan batsmen

Will Pakistan batsmen take cricket lessons from Virat Kohli?

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar revealed an interesting conversation he recently had with India’s batting mainstay Virat Kohli. In a TV interview this week, Akhtar was discussing the frailties of the Pakistani batting order. He was saying that batsmen like Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal have the talent of Kohli, but lack his application.

He seemed to point out the reason for this to be a reluctance to focus their minds on cricketing matters. Relatedly, Azhar Mahmood had recently said that he could see a visible lack of passion for wearing the Pakistan jersey among the current crop of cricketers.

Akhtar said that he had also approached Kohli, asking him to teach how he went about his game to his Pakistani counterparts. However, Kohli had replied that he talked on all matters in the world with Pakistani cricketers, but would not talk about cricket.

At this, even the TV interviewer gave a smirk.

Pakistan batsmen have been accused of not being willing to learn from anybody, and what Kohli said backs this up. He said that whenever Pakistani batsmen meet him, they are very forthcoming on non-cricket matters, but never raise any discussion remotely related to cricket.

Maybe they could take learning a trick or two from Kohli a little more seriously.
