Video: India reach ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals
Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten 102 as India beat the West Indies by eight wickets at the Oval in London, England on Tuesday (11th June) and reached the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy in the process.
India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and sent West Indies in to bat in the ICC Champions Trophy Group B match at the Oval on Tuesday.
The Indians took the wicket of Chris Gayle in the fifth over.
Gayle’s fellow opener Johnson Charles got the WIndies innings back on track with sixty runs and Darren Sammy also hit a quickfire 56 as the West Indies reached a total of 233-9 for their fifty overs.
The West Indies bowling attack were hoping to take early wickets, but success wasn’t forthcoming.
Shikhar Dhawan proved to be an immovable object as he hit an unbeaten 102.
Dinesh Karthik’s four sealed victory for India as they surpassed the West Indies total and finished on 236-2 to win by eight wickets, which sealed India’s place in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals.
