Video: India's Top 5 moments from 2015
2015 was an interesting year for India in cricket. The year began horribly with their tri-series in Australia against the hosts and England, where they failed to register even a single win in the ODI series, but things only got better from then onwards.
India went into the World Cup without the burden of expectation on their shoulders but came out of with their heads held high, as they went all the way to the semi-finals before being beaten by eventual winners, Australia.
After the Indian Premier League, India went to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and a solitary Test. While the Test was washed out, with India in complete control, the ODIs were a completely different story as the hosts showed just how impressive they are at home by beating India 2-1 in the ODI series.
Following the unexpected loss against the Tigers, India sent out a largely inexperienced side to Zimbabwe for their limited-overs tour, led by Ajinkya Rahane. They got off to the perfect start in the ODIs and maintained that throughout the tour as they whitewashed the hosts 3-0 in the ODI leg of the series.
After winning the first T20, it looked as though the visitors might win the T20 series as well, but a strong comeback from the hosts meant that India drew the two-match T20 series 1-1
Following that, India went to Sri Lanka for a Test series and claimed their first away Test series win against the Lankans in 22 years. It was also Virat Kohli’s first full series as India’s Test captain. The 2-1 victory also marked India’s first away Test series win in
Their final assignment for the year was against South Africa. After losing the three-match T20 series 2-0, it looked as though it was going to be a long tour for the hosts. But they managed to comeback in the five-match ODI series.
The series was 2-2 going into the decider at Mumbai, but South Africa, thanks to AB de Villiers’ blitzkrieg, the visitors blew India away. In the Test series, though, the roles were reversed as the Indian spinners, led by Ravichandran Ashwin, dominated and sealed a 3-0 win over the No. 1 ranked Test side.
