Video: Jadeja and Bravo discuss Champions Trophy clash

Reactions after India beat the West India by eight wickets in their ICC Champions Trophy Group B clash at the Oval in London, England on Tuesday.

Dwayne Bravo, West Indies captain (Q:Do you think that was a total you could have defended if you bowled better?)
“Yeah if we had got wickets with the new ball, put some pressure on the top order, definitely that would have made a big difference in the game. But we bowled a bit too wide, the ball was not doing us much as the previous game, so we as a bowling unit, all of us did not actually adapt to the surface quick enough and allowed the Indian batters to get off to a flying start. Defending a small total with a strong batting line-up as India (has) is always going to be difficult if we don’t get wickets with the new ball.”

“We really have to try and the batters have to take more responsibility to bat the bulk of the overs in order to get good totals so that our bowlers can actually defend. We lost our way in the middle, yes they bowled well also, but I think more so we gave, most of us, bad shots at the wrong time and allowed India to actually dominate the game.”

Ravindra Jadeja, India bowler and man of the match (Q: You picked up five wickets for thirty six runs, how would you rank this bowling performance among all your international matches?)
“I think this is one of my best bowling performances. I can say that because I got three times four wickets in my career, so this is the first time that I got five wickets, so I am very happy, I am very happy too that I got five wickets. So obviously it is one of my best performances in ODI cricket.”

(Q: How is the young and inexperienced team bonding so well, what is the recipe for the success?)
“I think everybody is doing their own job, the batsmen are scoring runs, the bowlers are taking wickets and the fielders are also doing a very good job on the field. So I think we have a very good balanced side and particularly we are getting first ten to fifteen overs start by the openers, both the openers Rohit (Sharma) and Shikhar (Dhawan), so that is a good sign for us for the crucial games.”
