Video: Jayawardene's farewell message to Sangakkara
For Sri Lankans, the departure of their star Kumara Sangakkara was more heartbreaking than losing the match to India. But, in his post-match chat, Angelo Mathews could not help but express his disappointment that they could not give the winning farewell to their champ. The significance of his retirement could only be gauged by the fact that both the President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka were present to congratulate Sanga at his last match. Sanga was emotional as he thanked everybody for their support, but he was in tears as he spoke about his parents and family. Indian team led by Virat Kohli praised the southpaw, in fact, Virat wrote a long note wishing him luck in his second innings.
His long-time teammate and friend Mahela Jayawardene went a step ahead and has released a video message in praise of Sanga, his contribution, achievement and above all the friendship they had over the last decade.
