Video: Life Beyond Cricket with Stuart Binny
Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny, who was the costliest buy at the Karnataka Premier League 2015 Players' Auction, believes the domestic T20 tournament is an important one as it highly beneficial to the youngsters who get to experience and play in a high-pressure environment.
“The KPL is an important tournament for the young players to get the chance to play. Rubbing shoulders with players who have featured in the Ranji trophy and some who have played for the national team can benefit those playing in the tournament,” Binny said.
The all-rounder, who was picked up by KPL new entrants Namma Shivamogga in the July auctions, might be 31, but emphasised the importance of fitness in the modern game.
“Fitness is very important. It’s something that can help you achieve the goals that you set, especially when it comes to playing for the country. It’s important for players in the game to train hard.”
Binny, who has played 3 Tests and 13 ODI’s for the Indian cricket team, unsurprisingly, revealed his father and former Indian cricketer Roger Binny was the inspiration behind his decision to take up cricket as a career.
“I came from a cricketing family so I got into the sport young. My dad played Test cricket for India and it’s obviously something I also wanted to do,” Binny said.
