Video: Flashback 2011 World Cup - Netherlands lose 4 wickets in 3 balls
Multiple outs in a single pitch is quite common in baseball, but it is unheard of in Cricket. However, in a match between Ireland and Netherlands in the Cricket World Cup in 2011, the Dutch lost 4 wickets in 3 balls.
Standing at an imposing 304/6 after 49 overs in the first inning, the Dutch looked like reaching 320 at the end of their inning. However, the Irish had other ideas. They bowled 3 dot balls and once the scorecard said 304/6 in 49.3 overs, managed to take all the Netherlands’ wickets.
In a shocking state of events, all of the wickets were run outs!
The first one came off a wide ball, so the counter for the number of balls delivered was not incremented and Ireland ran out the other three batsmen in the remaining three balls.
