Video: When Rahul Dravid raised his bat after taking a single at SCG
The 2008 Sydney Test between Australia and India is remembered for all the wrong reasons, but the match had its genuinely good moments.
Amidst all the controversy, one such smile-inducing moment was in the first Indian innings while Rahul Dravid was batting. With India having lost only a single wicket at around a total of 100, in reply to Australia’s 463, Dravid was batting patiently and hadn’t scored a single run off almost 30 deliveries. The Australian crowd was getting agitated and every single time Dravid didn’t score, they made the batsman aware of it.
Finally, on the 40th delivery since Dravid last scored, he took a single. The SCG crowd rose and applauded, and Dravid, taking it sportingly, sheepishly raised his bat to acknowledge it.
