Video: Epic reaction from commentator as Jesse Ryder six hits his car

In what must surely be one of the most amusing incidents ever seen on a cricket field, New Zealand international Jesse Ryder smashed a towering six over the square-leg boundary, while playing for Otago against Wellington in their domestic T20 competition, which, in all probability, ended up hitting commentator Ian Smith’s car in the parking lot. While Smith was at the ground on commentary duties for the match, what undoubtedly added to the hilarity of the moment was that Smith, himself, was live on air when the incident took place, prompting a spontaneous cry of anguish from the former wicket-keeper batsman.

Ryder went on to score 56 from 33 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes, and played a pivotal role in Otago getting to a total of 169/7 from their 20 overs. But his efforts were unfortunately in vain as Wellington managed to surpass Otago’s total with 3 wickets to spare, courtesy of breezy cameos from Grant Elliot and Jeetan Patel.
