Video: Sachin Tendulkar speaks about Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist
Sachin Tendulkar, at a promotional event for his autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’ last month, spoke about Australian greats Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist. An English journalist had asked Tendulkar his thoughts on the same after mentioning that the Indian great was critical of the Australians in his book.
The 41-year-old brushed aside the view that he meant to be critical of Ponting and Gilchrist, going on to refer them as two of the greatest cricketers in the history of the game.
Tendulkar further mentioned that there was certain ‘tension’ with Ponting during India-Australia matches, but all was forgotten when the two played alongside each other for Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians. They had opened the batting for a few games before the Australian was dropped owing to poor performances with the bat.
The Mumbaikar also added that Gilchrist came to the Indian dressing room and congratulated the players after India’s historic victory at the WACA, Perth in 2008.
