Russell Domingo, coach of the South African cricket team “It was a very disappointing one day campaign, let’s not beat around the bush. As a South African side we pride to do a lot better then we did there. In saying that Sri Lanka is a a hell of a tough place to tour. The record of our past sides show that more experienced sides have gone and have been turned over and have come back with out a victory in that format. So it was a tough tour for us, but it has also highlighted a lot of short comings in that particular format that we need to address going forward.”
AB de Villiers, Captain of the South African one day cricket team
“Dale, Jacques and Graeme are world class player, so you are always going to miss them when they are not there. But in saying that I really enjoyed the fact that some of the young guys got opportunities to play in those kind of conditions. They really got exposed to a world class sub continent team in their own backyard, even though most of us didn’t perform really well through out the ODI series. I thought we learnt a lot including myself. I think some of the guys put their hands up some of the youngsters and thats always promising.”
Russell Domingo, coach of the South African cricket team:
“The country and the cricket fraternity have got to understand that Jacques Kallis at some stage is not going to be there. It’s a big personality behind the team all the time and when something goes wrong all the time “oh, where’s Jacques Kallis?” and he is not going to be around forever. We’ve got to be able to live without Jacques Kallis. So not having him for tours like these is sometimes a great thing although it might effect the results big time, but in the long run it is only going to benefit the side.”
