A spectator in New Zealand won $100,000 by taking a one-handed catch off a six hit by West Indies’ Kieran Powell during the ongoing 5th ODI in Hamilton.
Tui Beer is running a promotional event during the series where the spectators who take a single-handed catch, while wearing the promotional t-shirt, are awarded $100,000 prize money. So far, despite many valiant attempts (like this one), there had been no winner.
But Michael Morton, watching the match from the Seddon Park bank, held a spectacular one-handed catch and proved to be the worthy winner of the cash prize.
“I was sitting next to my dad and he yelled out. I just jumped up and stuck the hand out, some how it stuck. I’m pretty happy,” he told the TV commentators later.
