While there have been a few catches of late like the one Steve Smith took yesterday to dismiss Pakistan’s Fawad Alam, former Indian batting great Gundappa Viswanath had pulled off a brilliant anticipatory catch in 1982 in a Test match at Kennington Oval, London, against England to dismiss Sir Ian Botham.
The difference being Vishwanath wasn't required to switch sides, as Botham had attempted a reverse sweep.
The big hitting all-rounder was on a rampage, having scored 208 off just 225 balls, when this happened off the bowling of left-arm spinner Dilip Doshi. Incidentally, it still remains the highest ever Test score of Botham.
