Video: Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Hardik Pandya shake their legs, while MS Dhoni sings at charity dinner event
Virat Kohli has been in red-hot form on the field ever since the turn of the year and with the conclusion of the 2016 IPL season last Sunday, the 27-year-old has earned some well-deserved rest before heading to the Carribean for a four-match Test series against West Indies.
That Kohli is highly active on the field is no secret and off it, the RCB skipper is making full use of his time to give something back to the society through the activities of his charitable foundation. Even during the busy IPL season, Kohli had taken time out to visit an old-age home in Pune ahead of his side’s fixture against the MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants, where he donated 50% of his match fees to the facility.
With the IPL done and dusted, Kohli has stepped up his efforts further by conducting a grand charity gala dinner in association with Smile Foundation in Mumbai on Friday. On Saturday, it was Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Playing for Humanity’ that collaborated with the Virat Kohli foundation to organise a football match contested between the team of Indian cricketers on one side and a team of Bollywood celebrities on the other.

Both the events turned out to be a grand success, not surprising when you get to see the celebrities, in a country which idolised cricket and Bollywood stars, in their best carefree mood.
The charity dinner especially had a few great moments, with Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Hardik Pandya dancing to the hit Bollywood song ‘Tukur Tukur’ from the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Dilwale’ along with the kids of the Smile Foundation. Kohli was as flamboyant as he usually is with his strokeplay outshining his teammates with some groovy steps.

Not to be outdone by his teammates, India’s limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni also enthralled the audience with his rendition of the song ’Mein pal do pal ka shaayar huun, pal do pal meri kahani hain’ from the 1976 movie Kabhi Kabhi, starring Amitabh Bachchan. Always a prankster, Yuvraj was seen alongside Dhoni playing second fiddle to help his skipper hurry through the lines.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Yuvraj, who himself is associated with a number of charity events on a personal front after his well-documented battle against cancer, congratulated Kohli for organising the event with a noble gesture in mind.
