Video: Watch Mohammad Amir pick five wickets with deadly swing bowling
Tainted Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir bagged five wickets in an innings for his side thanks to some brilliant swing bowling. The young seamer has been in the news lately after serving out the five-year ban imposed on the trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, and Mohammad Amir.
The trio are still not allowed to come back to first-class cricket yet as the Pakistan Cricket Board are allowing them to go through a rehabilitation program until February 2016. Of the three, the 23-year-old is the one who has a better chance than the other two to make a comeback to the domestic scene first, and then the international arena.
Amir has been in good form since he started playing for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in the Inter-department qualifying tournament. In the penultimate round fixture of the tournament on Monday, Amir bowled a fiery spell of 5-34 to dismiss the opponents – PIA – for a measly 140.
All the five wickets in the video are of top quality deliveries. None of the batsmen had any clue on how to handle Amir, as he ripped through their defences. The fact that Amir was able to swing the ball viciously on a flat deck is a testament to the fact of his bowling quality.
This definitely shows that Amir is making strides in his quest to make a return to the Pakistan national team set-up. However, Amir had told last month that he was not going to get carried away and that he was only going to focus on doing his best in the cricket he is allowed to play. Pakistani selectors will most certainly be keeping an eye out on his Amir's performances.
SSGC are currently the table-toppers in the qualifying tournament having won the first three matches. Amir has been the star for the SSGC, picking up 32 wickets in four matches at an astonishing average of 9.53. If SSGC go on to win the current game against PIA, they will be confirmed to play in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship later in the month.
