Video: When Yuvraj Singh revealed what motivated him to hit six sixes
One of the most memorable moments in recent Indian cricket history is undoubtedly that of Yuvraj Singh smashing 6 sixes in an over off the bowling of Stuart Broad during the 2007 World Twenty20 (T20) in South Africa. Not only did Yuvraj’s exploits help India win that particular match against England but also paved the way for a fairly inexperienced outfit to gain momentum and win the inaugural World T20.
In the 19th over of the innings, the left-hander smashed Broad to literally all parts of Kingsmead, Durban, as the Indians finished up with a colossal score of 218 for 4 from their 20 overs. While Yuvraj was in the form of his life at that point, he certainly has to thank a certain Andrew Flintoff for that bit of history.
Just prior to the 19th over, Flintoff seemingly sledged Yuvraj and the two shared a heated exchange out in the middle forcing the umpires to intervene and bring sanity to the proceedings. Whatever the England all-rounder said seemed to do the trick as a charged-up Yuvraj went on to score 58 from just 16 balls, with his half-century coming up in a record 12 balls.
A few years later, in an interview with Simi Garewal, Yuvraj revealed what Flintoff had said to him.
The moment.
